Embryolab is located in Thessaloniki in Greece and was established in 2004. It is a private clinic. In 2014, it undertook 1200 treatment cycles, of which 25% were egg donation cycles. The clinic is located in an independent building. It has one theatre, four laboratories (embryo, sperm, Microbiology and Cytogenetics) and four recovery rooms for patients following treatment.
The medical director is Dr Nikos Christoforidis MD MRCOG DFFP. He trained in IVF at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. He is a Diplomate of the Faculty of Family Planning, is member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and has over 15 year’s of experience. There are 6 doctors in total, 4 embryologists and 9 laboratory staff. The Laboratory Director is Alexia Chatziparasidou, B.Sc., M.Sc., the senior embryologist, who has over 15 years experience, is ESHRE accredited, and a member of ESHRE and ASRM. Most of the staff speaks English but there are also members of staff who speak French, German, Italian, Spanish, Serbian, Romanian and Russian.
The clinic has ISO accreditation: ISO 9001:2015 and accredited according to Clinical ISO 15189:2012.
Embryolab IVF Treatments
For donor egg treatment, Embryolab will provide information on the donors age, what screening tests have been undertaken, the nationality and the blood group.

IVF Success Rates 2015
The success rates were very good in 2015. For egg donation, the clinical pregnancy rate in 2015 was 67%.
For IVF/ICSI treatment, the overall clinical pregnancy rate was 53%.
For embryo donation, the clinical pregnancy rate was 67%.
The clinic prefers to transfer blastocyst embryos but it depends on the individual case. In 2014, the average number of embryos per transfer in IVF was 1.85 and in donations was 1.9.
Cost of IVF Treatments
The advertised price of egg donation treatment is £5950 GBP. This includes donor stimulation monitoring and donor drugs, ICSI, the Embryoscope, blastocyst culture and transfer, consultation and psychological counselling. The cost of the first consultation is free via Skype or £150 GBP in person. The cost is deductible if treatment commences. The cost of sperm freezing is £70 GBP. Embryo freezing costs £180 GBP. Overall, with the inclusion of the Embryoscope this seems good value.
The clinic also offers a refund package for egg donation. This costs £10100 GBP and guarantees four embryo transfers. These transfers must occur within one year and if no pregnancy is achieved after 4 transfers, 50% of the total cost is refunded. There are conditions associated with the refund so please check with the clinic for more information.
The advertised price of IVF treatment is £3300 GBP. This includes stimulation, scans, ICSI, blastocyst or Day 3 transfer, the Embryoscope, consultation and psychological counselling.
