FIV Center Madrid was founded in 1998. It is a private centre. The clinic was initially located in central Madrid, and then moved to Aravaca, which is just outside Madrid.
The building is very modern and spacious. Inside, the decor is very pleasant and contemporary. The consulting rooms and treatment rooms are large and bright. The laboratory is a good size and well laid out.
Dr. Caballero is the owner and Medical Director of FIV Center Madrid. He has over 24 years of experience in assisted reproduction. The clinic has around 14 staff. There are two other doctors and three embryologists. The senior embryologist is very experienced, particularly in embryo biopsy, and She has over 10 years of experience and is ESHRE accredited.
In 2013, the clinic undertook 447 cycles and about 35% of them were egg donation cycles.
All queries go directly to Dr. Caballero and patients are given his mobile or email. This could be considered a very personal service. There is admin staff to process any paperwork. Patient assistance is supplied by their international department whose staff speak Spanish, Italian, French, English, German and Arabic.
The maximum age of donor egg recipient accepted at the clinic is 52 years old, depending on the patient’s physical condition. HIV/HCV/HBV positive patients are allowed to be treated only if they have negative viral load and negative PCR.

Success Rates 2014
For egg donation the clinical pregnancy rate was 50%.
For IVF treatment using own eggs, the overall clinical pregnancy rate was 34%.
For frozen embryo transfers, the clinical pregnancy rate was 32%
Transfers are performed on day 3 or 5. In 2013, the multiple birth rate was at 4.5%. An average of 2 embryos were transferred.

Cost of Treatments
The clinic offers a 1 donor – 1 recipient policy. The advertised price of egg donation is 6200 Euros. Medication is not included and costs approximately 300 Euros. They have an offer of 3 egg donation cycles for the price of 2 with a total price of 12400 Euros.
IVF is advertised at 3640 Euros. Everything is included except for medication (which is approximately 800-1500 Euros). They have 3 special offers on this price:
- Discount offer on IVF+ICSI: 2800 Euros
- 2 cycles for the price of 1 for 35-year-olds and under. The final price for two cycles is 5200 Euros.
- 3 cycles for the price of 2 for any age group. The final price for the three cycles is 10400 Euros. If by the end of the second cycle there is no pregnancy the third one is free. No refund is available if pregnancy occurs before the third cycle.
All offers are valid once.
Egg vitrification costs 1000 Euros during the 1st year, then by year 2 the amount charged is 500 Euros.
Vitrification of embryos costs as follows:
- Between 1 and 3 embryos: 400Euros
- Between 4 and 6: 800 Euros
- From 6 onwards: 1.200 Euros
- Annual maintenance fees cost 500 Euros.
- Embryo thawing cycle + transfer: 1200 Euros (medication not included)
The initial consultation fee is 180 Euros and is required before IVF treatment can begin. For egg donation treatment, treatment can be arranged without the first consultation. The cost of sperm freezing is 220 Euros and includes a semen analysis. Maintenance costs are 500 Euros a year.
