Basic information about treatment restrictions at the Clinic.
Maternity Health IVF Clinic is located in Chalandri which is a suburb in Northern Athens, Greece, around 12 kilometres (7 miles) from the city centre. It is in proximity to major private hospitals. It was opened in 2000 and accepts private patients only. In 2017 it undertook 216 fertility cycles of which 87% were IVF cycles using own eggs. The clinic operates in a privately owned independent building which is bright and airy due to the internal atrium. The IVF clinic has three laboratories – embryology, andrology and cryobiology – one theatre and two large double recovery rooms.
The medical director is Dr Dimitrios Minaretzis MD PhD. He has over twenty years’ experience in infertillity and assisted reproduction. He trained at Beth Israel Hospital – Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. There are one other doctor and two embryologists with over 20 years’ experience and are ESHRE accredited. All staff members speak fluent English.

Cost of Treatments
The advertised price of egg donation treatment is competitive at 4500 Euros. Included in this price is:
- Donor screening tests (HbsAg, HCV, VDRL, HIV I &II, blood tests, cystic fibrosis, karyotype, fragile-X syndrome, haemoglobin electrophoresis)
- Medication for donor, stimulation, monitoring and egg retrieval
- Extended cultivation
- Embryo transfer
The cost of the first consultation is 150 Euros. An initial online evaluation is free.
Sperm freezing is 200 Euros. Embryo freezing is 500 Euros including first year’s storage.
The clinic does not offer egg sharing.
The advertised price of IVF treatment using own eggs is 3500 Euros and included is:
- All required tests
- Sedation, egg collection,
- Extended cultivation to blastocyst
- Embryo transfer

Maternity Health Success Rates 2016
Clinical pregnancy rates are clear and transparent.
For egg donation, the clinical pregnancy rate was 68% with a 56% delivery rate per transfer.
For IVF using own eggs, the clinical pregnancy rate given is the accumulated data from 1997- 2016.
For women less than 35 years: pregnancy rate 71%, delivery rate 58% per transfer.
For women 35-39 years: pregnancy rate 57%, delivery rate 42% per transfer.
For women who are 40 years and older: pregnancy rate 33%, delivery rate 18% per transfer.
For embryo donation, the clinical pregnancy rate is 76%, delivery rate 68% per transfer.
The preferred day of embryo transfer is dependent on the individual and can be from day 2 until blastocyst. The multiple pregnancy rate is 6%. The number of embryos transferred depends on the age of the women. An average of two embryos is transferred for women less than 40 years. An average of 3.2 embryos is transferred for women 40 years and older.
