IERA Lisboa Quirónsalud is a private fertility clinic in the heart of Lisbon, with a second location in Badajoz, Spain. Their Lisbon clinic opened in 2018, while the Badajoz clinic has been caring for fertility patients since 2001.
The clinic is based within a modern surgical centre designed to provide a comfortable, discreet, and safe environment. Patients have access to free parking, disabled-friendly facilities, two embryology laboratories, a fully equipped operating theatre, and a spacious recovery area with private curtained beds.
In 2024, they carried out approximately 250 fertility treatment cycles, including around 150 IVF cycles using patients’ own eggs and 35 egg donation cycles.
International patients can begin their fertility journey with a free online consultation, giving them the opportunity to discuss their medical history and treatment options with a fertility specialist before travelling. For those who prefer to visit the clinic in person, the consultation fee is €120 (includes 2 consultations + 1 ultrasound).

IERA Lisboa offers fertility treatment for single women, heterosexual couples, and female same-sex couples, including the ROPA method.
Under Portuguese legislation, fertility treatment is available to women up to the age of 50, while gender selection for non-medical family balancing is not permitted.

IERA Lisboa Medical Team
IERA Lisboa’s fertility team is headed by Dr Jose Antonio Dominguez, Medical Director and Gynecologist, who has more than 30 years of experience in reproductive medicine. Holding a PhD, he is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, with expertise spanning assisted reproduction, embryonic development, genetic and prenatal diagnosis, scientific research, and medical education. He is an active member of leading professional organisations, including SEF, ASEBIR, and ESHRE.
Working alongside Dr Dominguez is a multidisciplinary team of fertility specialists, embryologists, and patient coordinators dedicated to supporting both Portuguese and international patients. The medical team includes:
- Dr Ana Aguiar – Gynecologist with 27 years of experience (English and Portuguese)
- Dr Eduardo Rosa – Gynecologist with 20 years of experience (English and Portuguese)
- Dr Sofia Aguilar – Gynecologist with 15 years of experience (English and Portuguese)
- Dr Jaime Dominguez – Gynecologist with 15 years of experience (Portuguese and Spanish)
Patients can choose to be treated by either a female or male physician and, whenever possible, continue their care with the same doctor throughout their fertility journey. A change of doctor is made only if clinically necessary or at the patient’s request.
The laboratory team consists of four embryologists, including two senior specialists with 20 and 35 years of experience in embryology. One of the senior embryologists is accredited by ESHRE, reflecting the clinic’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards.

IERA Lisboa provides dedicated support for international patients throughout every stage of their fertility journey. Patient Care Coordinator, Leandro Coelho, who has 10 years of experience working with international IVF patients, is the main point of contact. Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, in 2025 he was recognised by the European Fertility Society with the Best Fertility Patient Care Assistant Award, honouring his outstanding commitment to helping patients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their treatment.

Patients can easily reach the clinic by email, WhatsApp, or telephone, with enquiries typically answered by the next working day.
To prepare for the initial consultation, patients are asked to submit a personal information form, GDPR consent, and any previous fertility investigations, test results, or IVF treatment records, preferably via email or WhatsApp.
IERA Lisboa can perform all essential fertility investigations at the clinic, including blood tests, ultrasound scans, and semen analysis. For patients completing part of their treatment in their home country, the clinic also collaborates with partner providers to help arrange the required tests locally. In accordance with Portuguese regulations, fertility medication cannot be shipped internationally.
The patient support team is available every day from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Outside these hours, patients are advised to seek assistance from their local emergency healthcare services if urgent medical attention is required.

Egg Donation
Egg donors are carefully matched to each patient based on physical characteristics and blood type. If needed, the clinic may also use photographs to achieve the closest possible match. Patients can request non-identifying information about their donor, including age, blood type, profession, and physical characteristics. Donors are available from a range of ethnic backgrounds, including Caucasian, Hispanic/Latino, and African.
Sperm Donation
Sperm donors can also be matched according to phenotype and blood type. Patients may either ask the clinic to select a suitable donor or choose one themselves through the clinic’s partner sperm banks, CRYOS or European Sperm Bank, subject to medical approval.

IERA Lisboa offers a range of fertility treatments, with transparent pricing and several services already included in the treatment packages.
IVF with own eggs – €5,250. Includes monitoring ultrasounds, egg collection, anaesthesia, laboratory procedures (including time-lapse embryo monitoring), hormone tests, and one fresh embryo transfer.
IVF with donor eggs – from €6,000. Two programmes are available:
- €6,000 – guaranteed 1 blastocyst
- €8,300 – guaranteed 2 blastocysts
Both packages include donor eggs, laboratory procedures, time-lapse embryo monitoring, one embryo transfer, and pregnancy blood test (β-hCG).
Embryo donation costs €2,800 (subject to embryo availability). ROPA (Reciprocal IVF) is priced at €5,600 + €600–900 for donor sperm.

IERA Lisboa reports its **clinical pregnancy rates per embryo transfer**, rather than cumulative success rates over multiple treatment cycles. This gives patients a clear picture of the outcome for each individual embryo transfer.
Egg Donation IVF
For patients using donor eggs, the overall clinical pregnancy rate was 43.9% in 2024 and 46.5% in 2025.
Most donor egg treatments at IERA Lisboa involve frozen embryo transfers, which achieved clinical pregnancy rates of 43.9% in 2024 and 45.5% in 2025,
Fresh donor egg transfers are carried out less frequently. In 2025, the clinical pregnancy rate for fresh donor egg transfers was 42.9%, based on 7 embryo transfers. No fresh donor egg transfers were performed in 2024.
IVF with Your Own Eggs
Success rates for IVF using a patient’s own eggs vary depending on age. Clinical pregnancy rates in 2024 were:
- 42.2% for women under 36
- 50.0% for women aged 36–38
- 30.8% for women aged 39–42 without PGT-A
- 66.7% for women aged 39–42 with PGT-A
- 22.2% for women over 42
For frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles, the clinical pregnancy rate was 40.1%.
At the time of reporting, embryo donation treatment was not offered.
IERA Lisboa submits its treatment outcomes to CNPMA (Portuguese National Council for Medically Assisted Reproduction), the national authority responsible for monitoring assisted reproduction in Portugal.

IERA Lisboa welcomes both local and international patients, with people from 21 different nationalities choosing the clinic in 2024.
Around 60% of patients were from Portugal, while the remaining 40% travelled from abroad, including Spain (6.3%), Angola (3.5%), the USA (2.8%), Brazil, China, Ukraine, Russia, East Timor, India, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and Italy (2.1% each). Patients also travelled from Germany, Switzerland, France, the UK, Pakistan, Norway, Latvia, and Hungary.
