If I had to describe UR Vistahermosa in one sentence, I’d say this: It’s a clinic inside a hospital that somehow doesn’t feel like a hospital at all.
About UR Vistahermosa
UR Vistahermosa is part of the UR International Reproduction Group, a well-established Spanish fertility network. The clinic works under the roof of a full private hospital, which means that while it focuses on assisted reproduction it benefits from a broad healthcare infrastructure: hospital theatres, recovery suites, diagnostic services, and a wide multidisciplinary team ready to support complex or unexpected needs.
On top of that, UR has decades of experience: the group has been working in assisted reproduction since the early 1980s, which gives them a level of institutional knowledge and structure many smaller clinics might not match.

Arrival at the clinic
I was immediately amazed by the surroundings. The hospital is based in a lovely part of Alicante, sunny, calm, not far from the local beaches.
My arrival was smooth and calm. It was easy to find and surprisingly the hospital overall felt very calm and peaceful. The whole IVF unit felt private and well-organized, you don’t really get the impression you’re within a big hospital.
I was greeted by the international department and introduced to patient-coordinators who made me feel instantly welcomed.
The waiting / consultation area downstairs felt quietly comfortable: enough privacy to make a conversation feel natural, lighting and décor that didn’t scream “hospital,” and a general atmosphere of calm. It didn’t feel distant or cold, even though I was inside a hospital complex.
Medical consultation
I had my consultation with Dr Francisco Anaya Blanes, head of gynecology at UR Vistahermosa. What stood out was how thorough and calm it was: he walked me through what a typical cycle would look like, what decisions would need to be made, what to expect at each step. It didn’t feel rushed – questions were encouraged and explanations were clear.
As someone helping patients decide on clinics, having that kind of clarity is very useful. There’s no ambiguity, no “we’ll see later”.
After the consultation, we’ve moved to the pelvic exam and the transvaginal ultrasound. Dr Francisco was incredibly gentle, it was one of the most comfortable exams I had so far. He was quick to spot my fibroid and explain whether it’d impact my fertility journey.
The IVF Lab
UR Vistahermosa’s biggest strength is arguably how self-contained it is. Because the clinic sits inside a hospital, it has full access to specialists, theatres, recovery rooms, diagnostics, and importantly its own genetics lab.
I had a tour of the embryology lab with Ana Aragonés, who showed me how embryos are cultured, monitored, and prepared. They run everything on-site: time-lapse monitoring, embryo freezing, genetic screening when required. For patients needing more complex care, for example older patients, egg donation, or genetic testing, having everything under one roof can make a big difference. It reduces travel, bureaucratic steps, and the stress of coordinating across different centres.
UR Vistahermosa – final thoughts
What struck me most about UR Vistahermosa is how balanced everything feels. It’s not a tiny boutique clinic, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming either. It sits in this sweet spot where the structure of a hospital actually becomes reassuring rather than intimidating. You can tell immediately that there are layers of support behind you: specialists just a hallway away, diagnostics on-site, genetics next door, and everything connected in a way that feels seamless and safe.
At the same time, the human side of the clinic is very present. The international team is warm, professional and feels very caring; the kind of people who make you feel looked after without hovering. Marta Sancho’s leadership really shines through in how the whole department operates. Dr Anaya was thorough and patient in his explanations, and Ana in the lab radiated that quiet confidence only experienced embryologists have. Because everything is under one roof, the journey feels more predictable.
And then there’s the setting itself – Alicante is beautiful, and being able to step outside into sunshine and sea air between appointments makes more of a difference than people realise. Healing doesn’t just happen in the consulting room.
Overall, UR Vistahermosa feels like a great fit for anyone who wants strong medical backing combined with a personal, steady, human touch. It’s a place where you feel safe, informed and supported without feeling like you’ve been swallowed by a hospital system. A really thoughtful blend of structure and warmth.
