IVF-Spain is a private fertility clinic located in beautiful Alicante, Spain. It was established in 2009. In 2019, the clinic performed 690 punctions and 1,100 embryo transfers in egg donation cycles and 465 punctions and 347 embryo transfers for IVF cycles with own eggs. The clinic features three IVF laboratories and three operating theatres and seven private rooms where patients can wait for their procedure and recover after them as well. All of the rooms are equipped with an operating chair/bed that allows patients to rest and be carried to the operating theatre.
The entire clinic has been designed to create an atmosphere that inspires peace and calm – from the colours on the walls to the furniture, everything has been chosen to alleviate any stress and enhance feelings of comfort and positivity, especially for patients who come from abroad and may be insecure about having treatment in a different country.

Dr. Natalia Szlarb (bottom left corner) is the Medical Director of the clinic. She has worked in gynaecology and obstetrics at a few German clinics. During her studies, she took up international internships in Brazil, Egypt, and Poland. In 2011 she successfully obtained her Ph.D. in Immunology in the USA. She has been part of the IVF-Spain medical team since early 2013. Dr. Szlarb understands that each patient is truly unique and, therefore, she is always ready to investigate each case deeply to find the best possible solution for the specific patient. Dr. Szlarb speaks fluent English, German, Polish and Russian and regularly takes part in patient meetings abroad and live IVF webinars with patients.

Success rates at IVF-Spain in 2019
IVF with own eggs
In 2019, the clinical pregnancy rate for IVF with own eggs was as follows:
- women under 38 years of age – 56.77%
- women above 38 years of age – 14% (fresh embryos).
The clinic works mostly with fresh eggs for embryo transfers. The success rates of IVF-Spain are submitted to SEF (Spanish Fertility Society).
The egg donation pregnancy success rate per embryo transfer is 67% (fresh embryo transfer) and 54% (frozen embryo transfer). The preferred day of embryo transfer for doctors at the clinic is Day 5 – Blastocyst as the doctors believe it offers the highest chances of implantation and healthy pregnancy. The average number of embryos transferred per embryo transfer is 1.17%.

Cost of treatment 2019
Egg Donation Program
The advertised price of egg donation treatment at IVF-Spain starts from €5,900. What is included in such a program? This price includes the following:
- no waiting list
- medical treatment, medication and follow-up for the donor
- medical treatment and follow-up for the recipient woman
- ultrasound scans carried out at the clinic when needed.
- sperm capacitation
- phenotypic matching
- individual matching with a donor
- carrier screening on the donor
- sample tracking
- embryo transfer.
The cost of the first consultation is €200 and is not deductible from the cost of program once the treatment commences. If patients wish to freeze and store their sperm, this option is also available at €150 per year of storage. As for embryo vitrification, up to four embryos, it costs €400, if you wish to vitrify more than four embryos, then it is €100 per embryo. The cost of frozen embryo transfer is €1,800.
As stated above, ICSI is included in the program and the fertilisation technique is chosen by the embryologists depending on the gametes’ quality. The use of the GERI Plus incubator is also an extra cost and it is €600.

At IVF Spain, everything is focused on patients and their needs. IVF-Spain is visited for treatment by patients from all over Europe. The British and Irish patients constitute 29% of the clinic’s patients. The British choose IVF-Spain mostly due to easy flight connection, affordable treatments and no waiting lists for donor eggs. IVF cost at IVF-Spain is also more affordable compared to the UK clinics. 15% of patients come from Spain and 14% from Germany. German couples who travel to Spain usually are interested in egg donation programs as donating eggs is illegal in the home country. Other patients come from Switzerland (13%), Netherlands (12%) and other countries (17%).
IVF-Spain is located 10 minutes’ drive from Alicante city centre, the clinic is close to the excellent beach of San Juan and located in a quiet residential area. The clinic is also accessible by bus and tram. IVF-Spain offers one free airport pickup per visit in Alicante. Patients can choose to be picked up from the airport and driven to the clinic or to the hotel.
For patients’ convenience, there is a taxi meeting point only 100 metres away from the clinic. The clinic can also assist patients in booking a pick-up taxi from the clinic if the need arises.
