Behind IVF Clinic Doors: My Visit to EmbryoClinic, Thessaloniki
This was quite a surprise – a futuristic feeling doctor-led clinic with such a kind team!
Walking into EmbryoClinic felt very different from many of the clinics I’ve visited so far. There’s something distinctly modern about the space, quite futuristic, but at the same time it doesn’t feel overwhelming or impersonal. It’s not a big, crowded centre. It feels focused, intentional, and calm.
From the very beginning, I had the sense that this is a very doctor-led place, where medical expertise truly sits at the centre of everything.
About EmbryoClinic
EmbryoClinic was founded in 2013 in Greece by Dr Elias Tsakos, with the idea of creating a fertility centre built around advanced reproductive medicine, research, and personalised care.
What’s important is that this really is a one-stop clinic. Medical consultations, gynaecological treatment, fertility treatment, embryology, and lab work all happen in one place. This is mostly due to Dr Tsakos having his gynecological practice within the same building – so you don’t need additional consults or travel.
The team also supports international patients and works in multiple languages.

Arrival at the clinic
From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed. There was no rush, I got a coffee, connected to wifi and while I was sitting there everything was running calmly and smoothly. The clinic design is very clean and modern, but not cold. It’s bright, quiet, and feels well thought through in terms of patient flow.
The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, and that stayed consistent throughout the day. There’s something very grounding about a place where everyone seems to know exactly what they’re doing, without needing to rush or perform.
Medical consultation
Spending time with Dr Tsakos was one of the strongest parts of this visit. His depth of medical knowledge is immediately obvious, but what stood out even more was how clearly he explains things. You don’t feel rushed. You don’t feel talked over. It feels like a conversation rather than a checklist.
This is very much a doctor-led clinic. Your case is not passed around between many people; it feels personally overseen. What’s also particularly valuable is that gynaecological issues and fertility treatment are handled together here, which means patients don’t need to travel between different clinics or specialists for related problems.
The IVF laboratory
The embryology lab has all the core elements you want to see: modern equipment and a careful workflow. It’s not a flashy lab, but it doesn’t need to be; it feels very practical, clean, and well organised.
What stood out for me is how closely the lab and medical side are connected. Everything feels integrated rather than fragmented. This matters a lot for patients, especially those travelling from abroad, because it reduces uncertainty and unnecessary movement between departments or locations.
EmbryoClinic review – Final thoughts
EmbryoClinic left me with the very clear feeling of a place where expertise of one doctor leads everything. This isn’t a clinic driven by size, volume, or marketing, but instead it’s driven by medical depth and personal oversight.
I do have to mention the wonderful team that Dr Tsakos built throughout the years. Everybody really felt like they belonged there and I was treated with such respect and care. EmbryoClinic feels like a very good option for patients who want a clearly doctor-led approach, or those that have gynaecological issues alongside fertility challenges. On a human level, the team was incredibly kind and warm. By the time I was leaving, I truly felt like giving everyone a hug – and I did. That probably says more than any of their brochure ever could!
