Most fertility clinics ask you to wait. To sit in a waiting room, get called, move from room to room, follow the process. Eugin Barcelona does it differently. And once you know about it, it’s hard to imagine going back.
About the clinic
Eugin was founded in Barcelona in 1998 by two physicians. What started as a single clinic has grown into one of the world’s leading reproductive medicine groups: 69 centres across 11 countries, over 45,000 treatments performed every year, and more than 265,000 babies born since the very beginning.
That scale is significant. But what makes Eugin Barcelona stand out is not how big it has become, it’s what it has chosen to do with that experience and resource when it comes to the patient in front of them.

Arrival at the clinic
The neighbourhood alone sets a tone. Eugin Barcelona sits in the heart of the city, chic, sunny, not far from La Sagrada Família, surrounded by great shops and the kind of energy that makes you feel like you’re somewhere rather than just anywhere. It’s the kind of address that feels considered.
Inside, the first thing I noticed was the calm and a green energy award – a small detail, but one that speaks to the kind of organisation this is. And then I noticed what wasn’t there: no waiting room.
Instead, Eugin has what they call nests: private individual spaces where the patient stays from arrival to departure. The doctors, the nurses, the coordinators, everyone comes to you. Blood collection, consultations, etc., it all happens in your space. You don’t move, the clinic moves around you.
I had never seen anything like it. In a journey that can feel exposing and vulnerable, this level of privacy changes everything. You are not sitting in a shared room wondering who can hear your conversation or see your face. You are in your own quiet corner of the world, and the care comes to you.
Consultations
Before any medical appointment, I met two Patient Advisors: Sara Miscia and Serena Di Maria. They described their role simply and clearly: “We accompany patients throughout their entire medical journey, starting even before their first appointment until they begin treatment. We focus on understanding their unique needs from day one, answering questions, clearing up doubts, and guiding them through every step.”
That kind of support, present from the very beginning, focused entirely on making you feel ready, matters more than it might seem, especially when you’re navigating something this personal.
My medical consultation was with Dr. Clara Colomé, Deputy Medical Director at Eugin Barcelona. She oversees the clinical and medical operations of the clinic, but she also sees patients directly – and that combination shows. Even in a clinic of this size, where it would be easy for the individual to get lost in the volume, Dr. Clara brought a real attentiveness. Each patient in front of her is evaluated as their own unique case. That doesn’t happen by accident.

Lab
I visited the lab with Maria José Zamora, the Laboratory Director, and it immediately felt like a place where precision is everything.
The lab is large and well equipped. Two things in particular stood out. The first was the IVF witness system – a safeguard that ensures samples from different patients or donors are never mixed up. In a high-volume clinic, this kind of system is not just impressive, it’s essential.
The second was the cryopreservation tanks. There are quite a few of them and they are tall. As in, almost as tall as I am. Seeing the scale of what is stored, preserved, and protected in that space was quietly extraordinary.
Final thoughts
What makes Eugin Barcelona different is something you feel before you even sit down with a doctor.
It’s the neighbourhood, the calm inside, the green credentials. But above all, it’s the nests. The decision to remove the waiting room entirely and replace it with private, individual spaces, where the patient stays still and the clinic comes to them, is one of the most thoughtful things I have seen in fertility care. It is a statement about how much this clinic values the dignity and privacy of the people who walk through its doors.
For a patient who is sensitive to that, who wants to feel protected, unseen by others, and fully held in their own private space, Eugin Barcelona is in a category of its own.
