GYNEM Fertility Clinic – My Personal Review
Behind IVF Clinic Doors: My Visit to Gynem Fertility Clinic, Prague
My next stop was Gynem Fertility Clinic in Prague, Czech Republic, a clinic I’d heard a lot about from patients. It’s a family-run clinic that’s been around for more than a decade, and it’s often described as friendly, organised, and transparent, but I wanted to see it through my own eyes.
About the Clinic
The clinic is located about twenty minutes from the city centre, tucked in a quiet area surrounded by greenery. When you arrive, you instantly notice how calm and private it feels. It’s not a big, hospital-like building – more of a boutique space where everything seems close and connected.
Gynem was founded by Dr. Milan Mrázek and his son, Martin, and that family spirit still shapes everything here. It’s modern, spotless, and equipped with all the technology you’d expect from a leading IVF centre, but it doesn’t feel clinical or cold. You can tell that this building was designed to be a fertility clinic. The atmosphere is open and welcoming, and you can tell that it’s designed to feel approachable.
They treat patients from all over the world, so English is spoken everywhere, and information is clear and easy to follow. That’s something I really value as it makes a big difference when you’re far from home and already have a lot on your mind.
Arrival at the clinic
When I arrived, I was welcomed at the reception and was able to grab a coffee while I waited for my coordinator. There’s something genuinely warm about how they interact – it doesn’t feel rehearsed or formal. Everyone seems to know each patient by name, and they move between languages effortlessly.
I met Kateřina Jírovcová, one of the patient coordinators, who walked me through what the day would look like and what documents I needed to sign. She explained that their team works very closely together – coordinators are present at every stage, could even stay with you during the medical consultation if you prefer. We got to sit together on the highest floor in a very cosy, bright room. It was intimate and didn’t feel medical at all, it feels more like a wellness space.
Medical consultation
My consultation was with Dr Radek Čábela, one of Gynem’s fertility specialists. What stood out most was how calm and grounded he was. He explained everything clearly – no rush, no complicated language, just a genuine conversation about next steps and how the process works here.
He talked about how Gynem tailors each protocol individually, especially for patients travelling from abroad who may have limited time in Prague. I really appreciated how flexible and realistic their approach felt. They’re used to working around travel schedules and coordinating remotely, which makes the experience much easier for international patients.
After the consultation, it was time to have an ultrasound. Don’t make the same mistake and make sure to have an empty bladder! Something I completely forgot, but it’s not a problem. If it happens to you, you’ll just need to have a bathroom break before your ultrasound so that the doctor can definitely see everything. For your egg collection, you do need to have a full bladder.
Dr Radek asked for consent before proceeding with an exam and ultrasound – something I haven’t experienced often, but I really appreciate. It shows the level of respect and care he has for his patients.
The IVF Lab
The embryology lab at Gynem is compact but incredibly modern. I had a chance to speak with the head embryologist, Tomáš Rieger, who showed me around and explained every bit of equipment they use.
They also walked me through how embryos are stored, and how closely the team works with the coordinators and doctors to ensure every detail is tracked. At Gynem, you’ll get to meet your embryologist and ask them any questions you have about the process.
Gynem Fertility Clinic – Final Thoughts
What struck me most about Gynem was the atmosphere. It’s a clinic that manages to make you feel like part of their family. You feel like you’re part of something small and personal – not just another appointment on a schedule.
Everyone I met, from the coordinators to the medical team, had the same gentle, positive energy. It felt like walking into a place where people genuinely enjoy what they do. There’s a family-like collaboration behind the scenes that you can sense, and I think patients pick up on that immediately.
I really appreciate the little touches they implemented along the way – such as their mascot Gusta. It’s such a lovely way of adding a little bit of fun into the patient journey.
Gynem also puts a lot of effort into making an impact – they currently offer free fertility testing for everybody. If you’re heading to Prague for holiday or a business trip, you can pop into the clinic for a quick visit to check in on your fertility. It’s a great way to make a difference.
If you’re someone who values a friendly, down-to-earth clinic with an international mindset, but you still want modern technology and transparent communication, Gynem is a wonderful place to consider. It’s especially well-suited for patients travelling from abroad who want reassurance, consistency, and a team that feels close and approachable from the first message.
There are many more visits ahead in this project, but this one reminded me of why I started. Every clinic has its own heartbeat – and at Gynem, it’s calm, kind, and full of care.
