UNICA Prague – My Personal Review
Behind IVF Clinic Doors: My Visit to UNICA Clinic, Prague
UNICA was one of those clinic visits where, within the first five minutes, I already knew I’d have a lot to say afterwards. Not because it was loud or showy, but because everything felt intentionally designed. It’s organised, elegant, calm, and surprisingly warm, with a patient flow that feels like it’s been thought through a hundred times.
And honestly, I loved the fact that I kept noticing their brand colour everywhere, the purple is so consistent it almost becomes part of the experience.
About UNICA
UNICA has two locations in the Czech Republic: Brno and Prague. The original clinic in Brno was established in 1991, and the Prague clinic opened later in 2017, which makes it much more accessible for international patients flying into the city.
Prague itself is also a great location for IVF treatment, it’s easy to reach from most European countries, and once you’re there, everything is close enough that you’re not spending your whole trip figuring out logistics.
UNICA also clearly places a big emphasis on combining IVF treatment with a more holistic approach, including support options like acupuncture, yoga, or physiotherapy, which is something they actively mention as part of their care.
Arrival at the clinic
Getting to UNICA Prague was genuinely easy, and once I arrived, the first impression was strong. The reception felt purposeful and calm, not like a place where you “just wait and hope someone calls your name,” but like the start of a journey that’s been designed to feel comfortable.
One of my favourite details was how the waiting space is split into little nooks, so you can sit quietly without feeling like you’re being observed. There’s also a simple tea/coffee station (which honestly matters more than people think), and even a garden area, which makes the clinic feel lighter and more breathable.
Everything around you feels consistent, the colours, the folders, the printed materials – it gives the impression of a clinic that has clarity in how they work, and that clarity carries through into the patient experience.
Medical consultation
My doctor was MUDr. Ondřej Bačík, and the consultation was exactly the kind that makes you feel safe: kind, gentle, and clearly experienced. The ultrasound was quick, delicate, and very calm, no awkwardness, no rush, just a smooth process that felt respectful from start to finish.
This is something I notice a lot during clinic visits: you can have a beautiful building and all the technology in the world, but if the doctor doesn’t feel patient-led, it can ruin the whole experience. Here, it felt solid and reassuring.
The IVF laboratory
The lab tour was another highlight. What stood out to me most was that the lab felt modern and well-equipped, without trying to be overly “fancy” about it. It had that quiet, competent energy.
They had three types of incubators available, and everything that should be accessible was accessible – the kind of “new bits and pieces” you want a lab to have ready, without needing to ask whether they can do something or not.
It gave me the sense that the clinic is structured for efficiency and quality control, which is exactly what you want in embryology: consistency, stability, careful processes.
UNICA Prague – Final thoughts
UNICA in Prague is one of those clinics that feels both affordable and high-end at the same time, which is a hard balance to strike. It doesn’t feel cheap. It feels professional. It feels polished. But the pricing and information-sharing felt transparent and clear, which patients appreciate so much, especially when they’re travelling from abroad and budgeting carefully.
My patient coordinator Mirna Turcinovic walked me through the pricing in a way that felt genuinely helpful, not salesy. And I really liked that you don’t just hear the details and then forget everything – you actually get the materials in your folder so you can go back to them later, reread, and process things properly. That’s one of those small things that makes a clinic feel patient-centred.
What also stood out is how much UNICA leans into the holistic side of fertility treatment. It’s not just “here’s your protocol, good luck.” They offer support like acupuncture, psychology appointments, fertility coaching, and massages, which isn’t for everyone, but for many patients it can be a huge part of feeling stable and supported during treatment.
Overall, I’d describe UNICA as a great choice for patients who want tight processes, a really consistent and thoughtful environment, a strong medical team, and that added layer of holistic care that makes the experience feel more human.
Could Unica be a good fit?
