Reproart – My Personal Review

Posted in ,

Reproart is a clinic built on a simple promise: American standards of reproductive medicine, delivered in the heart of Georgia.

About the clinic

Reproart was founded in Tbilisi in 2012 by Dr Lika Chkonia, who brought home three decades of IVF experience, including eight years working in leading American fertility centres. That transatlantic DNA is not just a line in a brochure; it shapes how the clinic is organised, how protocols are run, and how patients are treated.

Since opening, Reproart has grown into one of Georgia’s main reproductive medicine centres, with satellite offices in Kutaisi and Batumi, and a full range of services under one roof: IVF, ICSI, cryopreservation, egg and sperm donation, and surrogacy programs. And in Georgia, one of the few countries in the world with legal commercial surrogacy and clear legal recognition for intended parents, that last one matters enormously to international patients.

Arrival at the clinic

Checking in could not be simpler: you present your passport or ID, and the front desk takes care of the rest.

What struck me most in those first minutes was the atmosphere. International patients coming and going, staff switching between languages without missing a beat, and everything moving with a calm efficiency that inspires confidence. This is clearly a clinic used to welcoming the world.

The consultations

My first sit-down was with Sophie, my patient coordinator, who guided me page by page through the essentials: medical history, consent forms, personal details; everything the medical team needs before treatment can begin.

Then came the medical appointment with Dr Tamar, who reviewed my history, answered my questions, and took the first real look at my fertility: an ultrasound examination of my uterus, checking its shape, the lining, and my ovaries. She explained what she was seeing as she went, the kind of scan that can reveal fibroids, polyps, or cysts, and that tells the doctor exactly what treatment your body is ready for.

The labs

And then, my favourite part of every visit: the laboratories.

Dr Tengiz showed me through the lab, including the cryostorage area, where eggs, sperm and embryos are safely preserved in liquid nitrogen. The quiet room where so many future families are waiting.

I also had the opportunity to visit the genomics laboratory: something few clinics can show you in-house. This is where preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) takes place: embryos can be screened for chromosomal abnormalities and genetic conditions before transfer, right here in the building, rather than samples being shipped to an external lab abroad. It is another piece of the same pattern, everything a patient needs, under one roof.

At last the diagnostic laboratory, which is a real advantage for patients. Blood tests, hormone panels, infectious disease screening: it is all analysed right there in the building, with the phlebotomy section just steps from where samples are processed. No couriers across town, no waiting days for external results. For treatments where timing is everything, that speed genuinely matters.

Final thoughts

Reproart left me with the sense of a clinic that has built the entire patient journey under one roof – from your first blood test to your embryo transfer – and refined it over more than a decade. The Georgian-American promise is not decoration: you feel it in the organisation, the efficiency, and the ease with which this team welcomes patients from every corner of the world.

Reproart is for the patient who wants experience and infrastructure on their side: a clinic that has seen it all since 2012, in a country whose laws open doors that remain closed almost everywhere else.

And if you would like to see what that experience actually looks like, you can watch the full episode.
