Medical Team at Ovagenesis
The medical director at Ovagenesis is Dr Athanasios Garavelas, a respected obstetrician-gynecologist specializing in gynecological surgery, assisted reproduction, and regenerative medicine. Born in Athens, he graduated from “La Sapienza” Medical School in Rome in 2004 and completed his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Athens in 2013.
Dr Garavelas holds two postgraduate degrees—in reproductive and regenerative medicine and in high-risk pregnancy—and earned a doctoral thesis focused on HPV and chlamydia infections during assisted reproduction. Certified in human reproduction, he combines extensive clinical and surgical expertise with advanced IVF and regenerative treatments.
He practices internationally across Athens, Rome, Milan, and London, is a member of ASRM and ESHRE, and serves as the scientific coordinator of the International Department at the Institute of Life, ensuring innovative and personalized care for his patients.

The overall egg donation clinical pregnancy success rate per embryo transfer at Ovagenesis in 2024 was 77.5%. Fresh donor egg transfers had a success rate of 79%, while frozen donor egg transfers had a success rate of 75%. For IVF treatments using a patient’s own eggs, the clinical pregnancy success rates in 2024 (per embryo transfer, not cumulative) were:

- 35-40 years old: 69%
- above 40 years old: 69%
The clinical pregnancy success rate for frozen embryo transfers was 65%. Embryo donation clinical pregnancy rates are not available for 2024.

All IVF treatments—including egg collection, embryo transfers, and surgical procedures—are carried out at Ovagenesis trusted partner, Institute of Life – IASO, located at 37–39 Kifisias Avenue in Marousi, Athens.
