North Cyprus was one of those places that surprised me almost immediately. It’s green, bright, and honestly really stunning. I couldn’t stop looking out of the window at the views on the way to the clinic. Combining holiday with fertility treatment isn’t for everybody, but if that’s something you’re after, I’d definitely look into Cyprus as a route.

Dunya IVF Clinic is based in Kyrenia in North Cyprus. The clinic was established in 2008, and since then it’s grown into one of the better-known fertility clinics in the region, especially among international patients.
What’s also clear from the way Dunya talks about itself (and what you feel when you’re there) is that this isn’t just a business – it’s very much a clinic built around the idea of family values. On their website they describe themselves as a family-led clinic, with a strong sense of continuity, and that really reflects the atmosphere I experienced during my visit.
They also operate in a region that’s known for being flexible when it comes to fertility treatment options – including donor treatments and genetic testing that may not be as easily accessible elsewhere, which is one of the reasons North Cyprus continues to be a popular destination for patients travelling from abroad.
Arrival at the clinic
Before I even arrived at the clinic, I already felt taken care of, which is one of the things that matters most when you’re travelling somewhere unfamiliar for treatment. The team helped with recommendations for taxis and hotels, which made the whole trip feel simple and smooth from the start.
When I walked into Dunya, the first thing that hit me was how bright and sunny everything felt. The waiting area is really welcoming; it doesn’t feel like a stereotypical IVF clinic with “medical vibes” or cold lighting. If anything, it felt more like a well-designed office space: clean, calm, modern, and airy.
The reception staff were lovely, spoke perfect English, and it felt easy to settle in straight away. I had some water and went for my blood test with nurse Goodness, who was warm and reassuring. Even when you’re used to clinics, a blood test is always a moment where good energy really helps.
Medical consultation
After that, I sat down with my patient coordinator Inna, who I’d already been in touch with before arriving in Cyprus – both via email and WhatsApp. Honestly, having that contact before you travel makes such a difference. It removes so much of the “What now?” feeling.
Our consultation felt clear and genuinely helpful. We talked through what the next steps could look like, how the patient journey usually flows at Dunya, and I had plenty of space to ask questions.
Then I had my medical consultation with Dr Alper Eraslan, and what stood out the most was how thorough he was. He took his time and explained everything step by step – the ultrasound, what he was looking at, what it means, what it could mean going forward. It was transparent, clear, and you never feel like information is being “held back” from you.
It wasn’t the most fun ultrasound I’ve ever experienced (let’s be honest), but it was one of the most detailed ones, and that detail really does matter, because it gives you clarity.
The IVF laboratory
Dunya’s lab was one of the most impressive parts of the visit for me. You can tell very quickly that this is a clinic that cares about staying up to date and doing things properly, it felt very science- and evidence-based.
One of the things I appreciated is that EmbryoScope time-lapse monitoring is included as standard in their packages (and in many clinics, this is a paid add-on).
I also saw how seriously they take patient safety and lab security, including systems that help ensure the correct samples are always matched to the correct patient. Dunya uses RI Witness, which is a witnessing system designed to reduce the risk of mix-ups by electronically confirming identity at each stage of lab handling.
I was also lucky enough to see the thawing process, which was fascinating. It’s one of those things patients rarely get to see, but it really builds respect for how many careful steps go into making sure everything is done correctly and safely.

When I left Dunya, I remember thinking: wow, my first time in Cyprus and I genuinely didn’t want to go home yet.
But what mattered more than the scenery was the clinic experience itself.
Dunya felt organised, bright, and genuinely welcoming. It also felt transparent, not just in the consultation, but in the overall way they communicate. The patient journey felt straightforward, and the team around you makes it easy to relax and trust the process.
I also loved that I never felt like I was being “marketed to.” The experience felt professional and structured, but still human and transparent. And that combination is what patients need most: good medicine, good lab practice, and a team that doesn’t forget the emotional side of what they’re doing.
